In a stunning combination of realities, someone somewhere thought it’d be a great idea to bring the concepts of Tom & Jerry and
Pac-Man into one world. Tom & Jerry, already notorious for their cat-and-mouse antics involving running around a house trying to destroy one another, are changed in design and tossed into a maze style game called Mouse Maze.
Of course the characters aren’t Tom & Jerry exactly, but it’s easy to see how they resemble the cartoon duo. The mazes within the game are definitely reminiscent of the old Pac-Man arcade games, and require the player to tap their way through the maze to collect chips and chemical mixtures to complete the level. Generally, when Pac-Man ate a large circle the villainous ghosts would turn blue and scurry away. The concept is basically the same for Mouse Maze, and instead involves a mouse collecting vials of green chemicals that turn him into something of a super mouse. After drinking the chemicals, the players can chase down the cats and – as Pac-Man would the ghosts – destroy them.
The mouse is also aided by an assortment of power-ups, which have the ability to turn the mouse into a super mouse, destroy the enemy cats completely, or freeze them for a short amount of time. Upon collecting all of the chips, the player moves onto the next level. Levels get progressively harder as the game goes on, just like Pac-Man would.
Not a bad game overall, but it could certainly use some fixing in the controls area.
