South by Southwest launched March 8, 2013 and will continue to the night of March 17th. This festival attracts all kinds of crowds, and is sure to have a place for every listener, fan go-er, film aficionado and music lover. Since the venue has over 5,000 acts and events and not a single main stage, South by Southwest has created their very own app for 2013 that details the lineup, set times, different stages and locations, parking, events, and more for the weeklong fest. You can scroll through the app and create your own schedule and even listen to some sample of the artist’s music on the app before making your decision. This feature is key for many of the bands and performers featured are on-the-verge artists and not easily recognizable by a blind eye (or ear). The app includes descriptions of all the acts and events and artists their sound can be compared too.
The app is easy to use and visually appealing, with images for the artists, films, and speaker series. And, what is even more awesome about the app it outlines your daily schedule, the location in the city, and if it conflicts with another artist you want to see. It’s basically a one stop shop for your South by Southwest calendar.
If this doesn’t get you excited for festival season than we don’t know what will! Seriously. South by Southwest kicks off the season with an exciting and engaging lineup that includes acts Tegan and Sara, Wyclef, Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis, Wild Child, Benny Benassi, RiFF RaFF, Green Day, and Iron & Wine (and that’s just the tip of the iceberg). Independent films and speaker series are also abundant throughout the fest, with speakers including Jared Leto, Marco Del Torre, Depeche Mode, Bill Flanagan and many more, along with speaker series that include everything from the Rise and Popularity of EDM, the future of technology between artist and audience, music startups, digital and image marketing in the music industry, and mentor sessions. When we said this festival had something for everyone- we meant it. And the best way to keep track of all the excitement is through the app itself and creating your own schedule. Even if you’re not attending the festival yourself, we recommend download the free app yourself just to check it out, listen to some free music, and hey, even discover some new favorites!
