The Sleep Cycle Calculator app is an application designed to aide users in getting a full night of sleep, regardless of when you actually fall asleep and when you want to wake up. Its purpose is relatively straightforward, based on the concept that - sometimes - when you fall asleep and wake up a few hours later you still feel groggy and sleepy. Sleep Cycle Calculator takes the time users want to wake up and gives them a handful of times to fall asleep. According to the makers of the app, waking up at one of these times won't interrupt the sleep cycle (something you may have learned about in your Intro. Psych class in college). The app's purpose is to ensure the successful completion of a full sleep cycle, regardless of when you fall asleep compared to when that nasty alarm goes off. Users can set their wake-up times and the amount of time it might take the user to fall asleep - completion of these two things will give the user an accurate handful of times they need to fall asleep by. For example, if you need to wake up at 7am and it takes you 20 minutes to fall asleep, Sleep Cycle Calculator might give you a fall-asleep-by time of 2:10am. This would, ideally, give the user 4.5 hours of sleep. Whether or not it's a bunch of hocus pocus has yet to be determined, but for those of us that suffer from not being able to sleep enough (ever), the Sleep Cycle Calculator is definitely worth a shot.
