Plants vs. Zombies is the most downloaded game this week on the iTunes market.
The fact that Plants vs. Zombies was originally released in 2009 and is still being downloaded frequently should be a testament to its playability. The tower defense style game requires players to plant different plants in order to protect the player’s in-game home from zombies. Originally, the player gets one strip of grass to place plants on, though they are later upgraded to three and more strips. Over the course of the game, little suns fall from the sky and – in order to be able to plant more plants and protect the home from zombies – the player must tap and collect these suns.
As the game goes on, the zombie invasion becomes more and more dangerous. After a short trial learning period, zombie hordes begin coming out of the woodworks and players must continue planting various species of flora for protection.
Like many of the cartoon games on the market, it’s highly entertaining and still one of the most downloaded games in the genre.
