Metal Slug Defense Strategy and Cheats

Metal Slug Defense strategy, cheats, and walkthroughs for this insane 2D shooter! Miss the days of Neo-Geo's classic run-and-gun arcade games? Then you need to check out Metal Slug Defense! Developed by SNK PLAYMORE, Metal Slug Defense revamps the tired Metal Slug series with a new and engaging approach that focuses on strategy instead of blasting baddies. The game is available on all Android and iOS devices, including iPhone and iPad, so you have no excuse not to try it out. Can't get passed a level? We have all the Metal Slug Defense strategy and walkthroughs you need to succeed! The last thing the world needed was another addition to the Metal Slug series. Metal Slug is a great franchise, but some of the more recent entries have felt stale and repetitious. What Metal Slug has needed more than anything is a breath of fresh air. Enter Metal Slug Defense, a welcome change of perspective for the series. Instead of sticking to the same run-and-gun formula replicated in previous games, Metal Slug Defense joins the popular tower defense genre. For those unfamiliar with the tower defense genre, your job isn't to shoot, but to lead. Instead of fighting in the field, you are commanding your attack and defense forces from above. In Metal Slug Defense, your goal is to protect your base from enemy forces and destroy your opponent's fortress. The game has a one-lane defense layout, and mostly consists of you sending out grunts to build barriers and bomb enemy forces. Every time you beat an opponent, you advance to the next stage and earn some spending points. Use these points to upgrade your base, your troops, and your stats. All of these features come together to make a fun and invigorating gaming experience. If this isn't enough to convince you, then the game's design will. Metal Slug Defense features delightful 2D graphics and a score that could make any '80s kid weep with joy. There's also a multiplayer mode that is equally as fun (and challenging) as the solo campaign. All in all, the game is well-worth the download. It's not every day that such a radical change in game format works so well. If you run into any problems, make sure to check out our Metal Slug Defense strategy guide and walkthrough below!

Metal Slug Defense Strategy #1: Buy yourself some time.

  • Timing is everything in this game. The longer you wait, the more AP you have to use on soldiers, barricades, and, most importantly Metal Slug.
  • A good way to buy yourself more time is to invest in builders. The walls they construct will give you a respite from enemy forces.

Metal Slug Defense Strategy #2: Customize whenever possible.

  • If you're not investing in customizations, then you're playing this game wrong. You need to customize as much as possible.
  • Some of the best customizations to invest in: soldiers level, base level, and the charge speed of your metal slug attack.

Metal Slug Defense Strategy #3: Builders first.

  • You should start every level off with a builder of some kind. A builder buys you some time to amass more soldiers.
  • Make sure to place the builder close the enemy base. This will create a gap between you and your opponent.

Metal Slug Defense Strategy #4: Never send out only one soldier.

  • When attacking, you can't send out just one soldier. One soldier will quickly be overwhelmed by the enemy's forces.
  • Instead, send out one soldier to distract the enemy guards and then send out another to target the enemy's base.

Metal Slug Defense Strategy #5: METAL SLUG.

  • This may go without saying, but Metal Slug is absolutely necessary for beating the more difficult levels. With each new level, the bases become harder and harder to destroy, and Metal Slugs deal a lot of damage.
  • Increase the charge speed and power of your Metal Slug in the customization menu. Setting up lots of barriers will buy your slug some time to charge.

Metal Slug Defense Strategy #6: Perfect your deck.

  • Once you get through stage one, you'll gain access to your deck.
  • Put a lot of work into the order of your deck. You want to make sure you have the most effective soldiers, as well as a good balance between offense and defense.
