NBC is the main network providing coverage of the Olympic games and has released several apps, which offer in-depth reporting on the games, biographies and live streaming. Other developers have created Olympics based apps where users are given the ability to compete as a virtual Olympian and go for the gold! Below are several of the most popular apps that have been released in honor of the London 2012 Olympics! Enjoy!

NBC Olympics Live Extra

Since NBC is the premier network documenting the 2012 London Olympics, the network unveiled several apps for fans to follow the hype of the games.

NBC Olympics Live Extra, which is compatible with iOS and Android devices, allows users to stream live videos of each of the Olympic events and competitions. Users are also given access to view the Olympic Award Ceremonies, and even watch replays from various angles. Even though NBC Olympics Live Extra is free, the app does require users to have a cable television subscription in order to have unlimited streaming. You can still use the app if you do not have a subscription, but you will be limited to four hours of streaming.

Also from NBC, the NBC Olympics app gives users more details on the Olympic games, including biographies on Olympians, pictures, results, past races, an up-to-date medal count of the countries, breaking news, and informative stories on the games. NBC Olympics also utilizes a feature called “Prime Time Companion.” This feature allows you to connect with NBC’s primetime broadcasts, so you can view what the network is streaming on the go.

Developed by The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Limited, the Official London 2012 Results app provides full access to results, schedules, medal counts, venue information, and biographical information all in one easy-to-use platform. Official London 2012 Results goes in-depth with details on the progression of the games, and is a constant up-to-date application on everything you need to know.

The Official London 2012 Join In app has also been released by The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Limited for all you Olympic enthusiasts. This app provides a pocket guide to all the Olympic event listings across London and the UK. If you are in town for the Olympics, then the free London 2012: Join In app is a must-have. Users can plan their spectating activities flawlessly with this app, making sure not to miss out on the fun.

Finger Olympic

Finger Olympics is a game developed by Fingerway that encourages mere mortals to join in on the competition. The app places each user into the Track and Field sports game, for iPhone and iPod compatibility. As an athlete, you put your fingers to the test with many different skill levels.
