App Name: Zombies ate my city
What’s it all about?: Your mission, should you choose to download it, is to stop procrastinating and get out and about to save your city from being eaten by Zombies. This location based game will have you running here, there and everywhere, taking orders from (somewhat nutty) Professor Klada, sent from the future to prevent the ingestion of the world. He’ll have you collecting the necessary pieces (don’t worry no money needs change hands) to build the machine that will plug the time tears the Zombies use to get in. (It’s a lot less complicated then it sounds.)
So, how does it work?: Once downloaded you will be taken to a mission page where you select your own mission. You will then be sent a map of where you need to go to complete these missions. You will need to be at these locations to unlock the Zombie footage and Zombie based tips as well as instructions from Professor Klada. If you’re feeling really energetic you can save the zombies from eating your city in one go, or you can fire up the app whenever you’re out and about. You are represented as a green blob on the map and hitting the different buttons will show you where the zombies are in relation to you (beware they don’t catch you or else….), where the weapons are and where the materials are.
Any key things to know?: Unfortunately this app is only available in English speaking countries because Professor Klada was too busy with quantum physics and sciences at school to bother learning languages (not sure where his accent is from then). Zombies ate my wonders is a new installation in which Professor Klada collaborated with the Zombies to destroy the seven wonders of the world and your help is needed to save them! Achieving a gold score unlocks new weapons to make slaying zombies a little easier.
So, what do we think?: It requires a certain energetic mood to play this game, but once we started it was like being in a real life zombie movie. It got our lazy bums off the couch and out into the big bad zombie ridden city, adrenalin running through our veins satisfying our childlike dreams of zombie slaying. Playing outside is a lost art form and we like the way this app forces you to explore the outdoors and quenches our computer game thirst at the same time.
Who would enjoy this app?: A love for the weirdly wonderful is a must have character trait to enjoy this app (but who doesn’t have that?) Also if you have some time on your hands, are struggling to connect with your imagination and find yourself in a bit of a rut, this app does it all for you, awakening the childishness within. Also a fun way to explore a new city (if for some reason you are scrabbling for things to do.)
