App developers like Goroid are taking advantage of the impending doom that many suspect with the end of the Mayan calendar. TheEndApp is a running game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Similar to the popular application, Temple Run, TheEndApp stands apart from other running games largely due to the high quality graphics. One thing that always bothered us about running games was the repetitive scenery that overtime makes your eyes tired and bored. The visuals in TheEndApp feature a world of destruction peppered with totaled cars, plane crashes, dangling trucks, fire, and a ravaged city. Although the scenery does eventually repeat as you continue further into the game, TheEndApp is much more visually pleasing than similar running games such as Temple Run or Subway Surfers.
Another feature of the running game genre that gets particularly frustrating is the ease in which you die. If you make any mistake in Temple Run, even tripping over a tree trunk, you get eaten alive by evil monkeys. TheEndApp gives you more leeway than most running apps, and you can survive even if you (lightly) bump into something. This does not mean that you can run into burning police cars with no repercussion.
You play TheEndApp just like your standard running game. Collect duct tape, the virtual currency of TheEndApp, as you run throughout the destruction. Tilt your device to move left or right, swipe up to jump, swipe down to slide, swipe left to turn left, and swipe right to turn right. Acquire various power ups such as the duct tape magnet, jet pack, and shield to give you an advantage. One unique aspect of TheEndApp is the missions you are assigned as a survivor of TheEnd. These missions include collecting a certain amount of duct tape or running a certain distance.
Fans of Temple Run should definitely check out TheEndApp if you are looking to switch up your game. Although TheEndApp is ultimately your standard running game with simple gameplay and not much more, it’s worth the free download.
