PopStar Cheats

PopStar tip #1: Go for points.

• In each PopStar level, you must hit a certain target score.
• You earn points for each match of stars you make, but they're not all weighted equally.
• Matching more blocks at a time means more points, so the more touching blocks you connect and match, the more points you get.
• For example, matching two blocks of the same color will give you 20 points, 3 gives you 45, 4 gives you 80, 5 gives you 125, and 6 gives you 180, 7 gives you 245, and so on.
• In the first level you only need 1,000 points, but each level raises the stakes. In stage 2 you need already need 3,000 points, so you'll quickly have to step up your game and focus on getting lots of points.

Popstar tip #2: Save your big matches.

• You'll want to make huge matches of 5, 6, or more as often as you can.
• However, don't clear a large match the moment you spot it; there may be a better way.
• Before clearing a large match, look in the area and see if there are other tiles of the same color nearby.
• If so, you might be able to make your combo even bigger! See if you can clear other tiles in the area to allow more tiles to connect to your match.
• Stranded tiles below your big match are hard to add since getting to them would involve dropping your big match, which can ruin the tile connections.
• Instead, look for stranded tiles above or on the sides of your match that can be dropped without affecting the match connections.

PopStar tip #3: Help the abandoned tiles.

• Other than lacking in big matches, the biggest reason you'll fail a level is because your matching stars get separated from each other.
• When your colors get too segmented, you'll run out of moves you can make and it'll be game over.
• Losing a level hurts more in PopStar than in many similar games because you have to start way back at stage 1. Don't let it happen to you!
• Instead, look for ways to connect single stars, and let matches build before clearing them.

PopStar tip #4: Don't allow more abandoned tiles.

• While helping abandoned tiles is important, it's just as vital to make sure you're not creating even more abandoned tiles.
• In many cases, it is unavoidable to make matches that cause other tiles to get separated from stars of the same color.
• There are, however, ways you can help reduce the number of orphan stars you create.
• Before you make any match, look around the areas to see what tiles might be affected.
• If you see a star that will be orphaned if you make the match, try clearing that star first.
• Whenever you do make a match, look in the area for another tile of the same color that you can add to the match. This will prevent more from being separated.

PopStar tip #5: Work from the bottom.

• Like many games where pieces fall with gravity, you'll want to use that to your advantage and work on the bottom of the board.
• If you start at the top, you could run out of matches much sooner since you won't be able to get the tiles you need to match on the bottom.
• Work low and try to get rid of outliers and build big matches.
• Figure out which colors you need to clear the bottom tiles, and make matches that will help you clear them.

• On certain stages, you'll get a special tile that works differently than the regular stars.
• You can tell this tile apart by the way it shines.
• The special tile works as a wildcard -- it can be matched with a group of any color.
• This can be useful as you can use it to make a match larger for more points, or get rid of an orphan tile to open up the board or allow for a longer-lasting game.
• Try to make big matches to get the tile, and then think about the most advantageous way to use it and get the points you need to move on.
