NinJump Rooftops Game Overview
NinJump Rooftops is the newest addition to the NinJump games for iOS, with a new "endless runner" level structure. This means that there is only one level to play, and the objective is to run for as long as possible. Along the way there are enemies that you can either fight or avoid, and both coins and jade crystals that when collected can be spent on new power-ups and upgrades for your ninja's skills. When you open the game there are three options on the main menu: shop, leaderboard, and play. In the shop menu you can choose to buy upgrades and costumes with the coins and jade you have acquired, and there is also the option of buying more coins and jade with real-world currency. The leaderboard allows you to see how your skills stack up against your friends and the rest of the world. The leaderboard lets the player sign in using either their Facebook profile or their Game Center profile. Lastly, the play option is how you start running on those rooftops. Before jumping right into it however, the player has the option of buying different boosts to help them along. There is also a drop-down missions menu that the player can view to see what specific goals they should complete. When the player ends their run, if they completed any of these missions then bonus coins are awarded, and new missions are unlocked. There are a bunch of features during gameplay aside from simply running. There are obstacles and enemies to avoid or confront, various pickups that can give your ninja special powers, and a lot of strategy involved in order to run as far as possible. What types of pickups are there in NinJump Rooftops? During play, pickups will naturally appear throughout your run. There are four pickups: Shield, Super Size, Coin Magnet, and Triple Jump. Shield protects your ninja from harm, Super Size increases the size of your ninja so he can jump farther, Coin Magnet attracts coins to your ninja so that you don't need to make an effort to get them, and Triple Jump allows your ninja to jump three times in mid-air instead of the usual two. What types of upgrades for pickups can I give my ninja in NinJump Rooftops? In the shop you can choose to upgrade both the probability that a power-up will appear and the length of time that it lasts up to five times each. Also, you can choose to buy the Multicoins upgrade, which doesn't appear naturally. Multicoins increases the number of coins that appear during a run after a certain distance has been covered, and can be upgraded up to five times as well. What type of boosts can I buy before playing a run in NinJump Rooftops? There are four boosts that can be purchased with coins before a run. You can buy a bonus dash for 500 coins, which lets you skip ahead several meters when starting a run. Also for 500 coins you can buy a boost that makes all pickups for that run last 5 seconds longer. For 750 coins, you can buy a revive that will bring your ninja back to life if you die. For two jade crystals you can buy a boost that doubles all coins collected for that run.
What mini-games are in NinJump Rooftops? NinJump Rooftops includes a mini-game called NinDrop. During a run, you can pick up NinDrop tokens that unlock the NinDrop mini-game when your run is over. In NinDrop, the player drops a NinDrop token through an obstacle course and tries for it to land in a crate. Depending on which crate the token lands in (Wooden, Silver, Gold) the player is awarded more or less bonus coins. What types of costumes are available in NinJump Rooftops? There are a total of six different costumes in NinJump Rooftops, two that you start the game with and four additional costumes that can be bought at the shop with Jade crystals.
- Classic: The classic ninja costume from the past NinJump games. This is the costume you start the game with.
- Classic Girl: The girl version of the classic ninja costume from the past NinJump games. This costume is free.
- Pirate: A pirate costume. This costume costs 10 Jade crystals.
- Monkey King: A monkey costume that turns your sword into a staff. This costume costs 20 Jade crystals.
- Novice: A beginner ninja costume, turns your sword into a bamboo rod. This costume costs 20 Jade crystals.
- Dragon Knight: A knight costume with golden armor and a face-mask that resembles a dragon. Turns your sword black with a dragon skull hilt. This costume costs 30 Jade crystals.
What types of enemies can I expect to face in NinJump Rooftops? NinJump Rooftops features five different types of enemies: other ninjas, masked squirrels, birds, bees, and pandas. To deal with all of these enemies, you either have to dodge them or slice at them with your sword. Ninjas throw throwing stars at you and then disappear, and you have to either dodge or slice their throwing stars. Squirrels run along the rooftop at you and try to knock you off. Bees fly at a slow pace in the air, but can get you if you accidentally jump into them. Birds are also airborne, but instead of flying in a straight line they will dive at you. Lastly, there are pandas. The pandas are the most difficult enemy to defeat because they stomp the rooftop and send a wave of splintered wood at you. They are best dealt with from afar - if you get too close, there is a small chance you will survive.
NinJump Rooftops Cheats, Tips, and Tricks
While there are no official cheats for NinJump Rooftops, there are various tips, tricks, and strategies that can help you run the farthest and collect the most coins. Tip #1: Hit the same type of enemy three times in a row.
- Hitting the same type of enemy three times in a row causes your ninja to hop on the back of a giant version of that enemy and fly through the rooftops to skip ahead several hundred meters. The enemies you ride have a feature sort of like the Coin Magnet, so all the coins you pass will be collected along the way. All the enemies you pass will be defeated as well.
Tip #2: Know your jumps.
- There are several different ways to jump in NinJump Rooftops, and jumping correctly for certain situations plays a large role in making it as far as possible. Tapping the screen to do a small jump is good for eliminating enemies. Tapping and holding to do a high jump is good for getting onto hard to reach rooftops. Also, you can double jump once you are already in the air, which works well when trying to avoid obstacles at the last minute.
Tip #3: Pay attention to your missions.
- Missions are the best way to earn bonus coins. While many missions span across multiple runs and will often be completed inadvertently, if you have one that is individual to a single run, do it.
Tip #4: Collect the NinDrop tokens.
- Try to pick up NinDrop tokens whenever you see them. Depending on which crate you drop them in (Wooden, Silver, or Gold) you could receive bonus awards panning anywhere from 100 coins to double coins the whole next run - which when paired with upgrades such as Multicoin or Coin Magnet can make for a lot of coins on one run.
Tip #5: Buy the Multicoin upgrades first.
- Yes, they are expensive, but buying the pickup upgrades at the shop will let you collect the most coins possible during runs. We recommend buying all five Multicoin upgrades first, because then you will receive the coin bonus much earlier during every run. Multicoin makes red and blue coins appear on the rooftops. Red coins are worth three coins, and blue coins are worth two. Once you have upgraded Multicoin, coins will be much easier to get in general to spend on additional upgrades.
Tip #6: Buy the probability upgrades instead of the timer upgrades.
- Having pickups last a long time is nice, but the timer upgrades are useless if you rarely get the pickups that you bought them for. Start upgrading the rest of your pickups with the probability upgrades - having the ability to continuously use pickups during a run will let you make it much farther. If you have a favorite pickup that works well for your play style, then upgrade that pickup to the max before focusing on others. This way, you will constantly be receiving your pickup of choice during runs and it will make you run much farther and collect more coins.
- If coins mean more to you than distance, we recommend buying the Coin Magnet upgrades first so that you will collect almost every coin during a run.
