Letterpress is a brand new free word game from Atebits that tests your vocabulary and creativity and is different from any other game in the App Store!
A turn based word-game, Letterpress pits you against another player as you fight over who has control over the board. One is red, one is blue– which color will win?
How To Play Letterpress
You play by making the longest word you can (acceptable by Letterpress’ dictionary, of course), using the tiles in the board provided. Once submitting a word, those letters will turn your color. Be warned– both players can use whatever tiles they want! So your letters may suddenly turn your opponents color!
The first person to use the last white tile on the board ends the game– whoever has more of their color tile on the board wins!
Letterpress Rules
- Words must have at least two letters.
- Words may only be played once.
- Words may not be a prefix of a previously played word. (Ex: if you play “QUILTS”, player 2 cannot play “QUILT”. They can, however, play “QUILTED” or “QUIT”)
Letterpress Tips
Defend your tiles! Tiles may be defended by surrounding it with other tiles of the same color. The defended tile will turn a darker shade of your player color– as long as a tile is defended, either player can use the tile, but it will not change color. By defending your tiles, you take away opportunities for the opposing player to take your tiles!
Use words that end in a suffix. By ending your words in “s” or “ing” or “er”, you make a longer word that your opponent can’t use the shortened version of!
Don’t be afraid to try new things. You know that word that you aren’t sure is actually a word? Try it anyway! You don’t get any deductions for guessing. Just be sure that the word you submit is really the one you want to play– if it IS a word, it will be submitted, and you can’t take it back.
Letterpress is a free word game that takes skill and word knowledge to win. In the free version, you can play up to 2 games at a time. Upgrading is an in-app purchase that costs $0.99 and allows you to play more games, unlock themes, and see your previously played words.
