Gems With Friends is Zynga‘s new social puzzle game for iPhone and Facebook.  Gems With Friends is a fast-paced gem matching app that races against the clock and keeps you on your toes at all times.  Available in free and pay-for version, Zynga’s newly released Gems With Friends replicates a somewhat battle-like frantic feeling that hooks you from the first of its three rounds as you try to create the highest scoring gem combinations within a set time period.

Each new game of Gems With Friends gives a play three rounds to beat their opponent.  Each round is two minutes long (the time limit can be extended with power ups).

Despite the colorful tiles, the most important aspect of the game is the number on the tiles. Each colored tile corresponds to a type of gem and subsequently to a number score. Your objective is simple – to acquire the most amount of points in each round before time is up.

Acquire the most amount of points in each round of Gems With Friends by following these rules:

• You receive a point for every gem you place on the board.

• Match 3 of the same gems to get a higher value gem.

• A new gem that is one value higher will replace the 3 old gems that were combined.

• The new gem will be placed in the position of the last third gem.

• Higher value gems are worth more points
   
  • 1 Gems = 5 points

   

  • 2 Gems = 10 points

   

  • 3 Gems = 20 points

   

  • 4 Gems = 35 points

   

  • 5 Gems = 60 points

   

  • 6 Gems = 90 points

   

  • 7 Gems = 140 points

   

  • 8 Gems = 210 points

   

  • 9 Gems = 300 points

   

• Every gem combination rewards you with a star and each star gives you bonus points for each play.

• Stars will disappear if you don’t combine gems within in the 2-minute time limit.

• Randomly, you can be rewarded with a Power Gem, a wildcard that combines any 2 matching gems.

• Power Gems include Star Power, Golden Heart, Extra Hearts, and Frost

• Star Power: adds 20 stars. You won’t lose any stars for 20 seconds.

• Golden Heart: allows you to score up to 20x more points when you play this gem, based on how many coins you use to access this power up.

• Extra Hearts: triples the changes you will earn a heart

• Frost: Freeze the clock for 4 seconds every time you play this gem.

• Lucky 7’s: receive five 7s in a row after playing this Power Gem

• Chain combos provide more bonuses when a Power Gem is used to match two different groups of gems simultaneously.
