We really love Disco Zoo. From the adorable, pixelated zoo animals to the simple and elegant zoo management system, there’s a lot to be pleased with. You start the game off as a zoo manager with but one goal: make the biggest, craziest, disco partiest zoo of all time. First, you need animals. Disco Zoo makes this part of the game challenging, but not impossible. There are multiple habitats to explore and each one contains a set of animals for you to discover. You have ten attempts to flip over the puzzle’s tiles and try to guess where your animal’s tiles are. While fun and addictive, finding the right patterns can sometimes feel more like dumb luck than successful strategy.
As for the zoo management portion, Disco Zoo feels just right: not too overwhelming and not too arbitrary. Flicking the screen right and left lets you check customer happiness, track construction, and make sure your animals are awake. You have to keep your animals awake in order to make the most money off of them. Throw a disco for them and the animals will manically dance for hours on end, increasing profits. Sadistic? Of course, but it keeps upkeep simple and entertaining in the oddest of ways.
In short, this game is a treat and definitely deserves a download. It takes time, and it constantly asks you to collect more and build bigger, but it never crosses into aggravating territory.
