These Boom Beach weapons guide includes both defense and offense strategy to help you dominate every battle of this iOS and Android game. From the developers at Supercell comes Boom Beach, the chart topping military strategy game that puts you in command of an entire elite army.
Boom Beach Headquarters (HQ)
The Headquarters is the heart and soul of your island or base. Whatever you do, protect your headquarters when you are at battle. If you lose your headquarters in an attack – you will lose everything. As you progress through the game your headquarters will be upgraded and new features will be unlocked. This means that you need to have the headquarters heavily protected by buildings, weapons, etc. Make sure that you strategically plant the other building around the headquarters to protect it.
When you upgrade your headquarters, you will be able to unlock new buildings, troops, defense weapons, and more. Each battle you enter will be increasingly more difficult. This means that you need to upgrade your defense and troops if you want to continue to play. The only way to win the battle is to upgrade your headquarters when necessary.
Occasionally before upgrading your headquarters, you may be forced to build other buildings and defense, such as the radar. If this is the case, do so as soon as possible. Remember, your headquarters is there to protect your troops and resources, so you want to make sure it is constantly up to date. Losing all of your resources will set you back, and all of your hard work in those battles will disappear!
Boom Beach Flame Thrower
The Flamethrower is the fifth defense you unlock in Boom Beach. The flamethrower can be used to deal a massive amount of damage at close range, especially against infantry. After an enemy is attacked with the flamethrower, they will continue to burn for a few seconds.
Flamethrower Offensive Strategy
- Keep your warriors and riflemen away from flamethrowers. The flamethrowers can easily overpower these troops in mere seconds.
- You can use a shock bomb to stop flamethrowers from attacking.
- The flamethrower is weak against long range attacks. Put your zookas and tanks to use by having them attack the flamethrowers since they can easily stay out of its range.
Flamethrower Defensive strategy
- Use the flamethrowers to fend off mass infantry attacks
- It is a solid idea to spread your flamethrowers out around your HQ. This way, they can deal with warriors without being shocked all at the same time. Also, keep your flamethrower touching one side of your HQ and it can deal a massive amount of damage to warriors since it can hit all sides of the building.
- Deal with strategies of low health troops by tag teaming your flamethrowers and machine guns at your defense’s front line. Keep in mind that having all of them in the front will leave you open to a flank attack.
- Place a sniper behind your flamethrower. This way, you can make up for the flamethrower’s short range attack.
Boom Beach Machine Gun
The Machine Gun will be very effective at a close to medium range against groups of Riflemen and Warriors. It will be unlocked as the third defense int he game. Since the Machine Gun sprays bullets at random, it may tend to be a bit unpredictable.
Machine Gun Offensive Strategy
- Use the Heavies to protect your other troops, such as the Rifleman. The Heavies will help you to shield and deflect attacks by Machine Guns on your other troops.
- Look to destroy the Machine Gun from a far distance. Since the machine gun can be unpredictable, with inaccuracies, it is best to attack it from a distance to lower your chances of being hit.
Machine Gun Defensive Strategy
- Place the Machine Gun in the front of your line. The Machine Gun will spray bullets, increasing your chances of taking out a large group of enemies.
- Use the Machine Gun against the Riflemen of Zooka. Since they have low hit points, the Machine Gun will do the most damage to these troops.
- If enemies are attacking your Boom Cannon, look to help the cannon by placing the Machine Gun near it, relieving it from some of the attacks. This way you can prevent groups of weak enemies from destroying it.
Boom Beach Mortar
Boom Beach Mortars are very effective when attacking enemies from a medium to long distance. The Mortars come available as the second defense. They will do a great deal of damage to Rifleman, however they do have a long reload time.
Mortars Offensive Strategy
- Activate the mortars against large groups of Rifleman or Zookas. Activating it against these types of troops will help you to do the most damage.
- Be aware, the Mortars will not do a great deal of damage to Warriors. Warriors tend to be too fast, increasing the chances that they will deflect the mortars.
Mortars Defensive Strategy
- Use the mortars against troops that have a low health or hit points. These troops include Riflemen or Zookas.
- Look to place the mortars centrally in your base. Having them in the center will increase their protection by having other defenses in place. Surrounding them with other defenses will help you to protect them.
- Since the Mortars do little damage to Warriors, look to place the Mortars outside of their reach. Instead, place them in areas around the board where Warriors are less likely to reach, such as the back of your base.
- Look to combine Mortars with Rocket Launchers and Flamethrowers. These combinations work best together.
Boom Beach Boom Mines
Boom Mines are an upgraded form of regular mines. They are stronger, inflicting much more damage to your enemies, especially the tanks. When activated, the Boom Mine will have a small splash damage range, helping you to do damage to all of the surrounding enemies.
Boom Mines Offensive Strategy
- When you launch the Artillery or Barrage from your boat, the Boom Mines will in return explode. This will help you to activate them before releasing your troops.
- Make sure that you keep your troops from stepping on a Boom Mine. The Boom Mine can kill some of your most valuable troops.
Boom Mines Defensive Strategy
- Look to place the Boom Mines strategically. Once you have seen the damage that one can inflict, you will get a better understanding on where to place them.
- Try to place Boom Mines in areas that are free from other mines or boom mines. Since they are able to do enough damage to an entire group of enemies, it is not necessary to place them side by side.
- Placing Boom Mines beside each other will increase your chances of setting off a train reaction, wasting valuable resources.
- Look to place the Boom Mines in areas that are hidden. Hiding the mines will help to surprise your attacks and avoid the risk of them being seen and avoided.
Boom Beach Mines
Boom Beach mines are explosive traps that explode and damage enemies. Boom Beach mines are among the simplest and cheapest defensive weapons in the game. Since they are visible to attackers, however, they can also be avoided. But they can also be somewhat versatile. Here’s your complete guide to Boom Beach mines.
Boom Beach Mine Offensive Strategy
- Since you can see where mines are placed, you can also easily avoid them with well-placed flares. Use flares as soon as you deploy troops to skirt around mines and attack through the gaps.
- You can also use Gunboat Artillery to blast through any mines on the ground. This is not usually cost-effective unless there’s a group of mines clustered together, but if you don’t have many high-health troops, this may be a worthwhile approach.
Boom Beach Mine Defensive Strategy
- When placing mines, don’t group them together. Spread them out a good 3-4 spaces before the first buildings in your village so that enemies will have to run through them before they begin attacking.
- Place Boom Beach mines in staggered lines so that it’s difficult for enemies to navigate the spaces in between them. You’ll either force your opponent to use heavy artillery or sacrifice some troops getting through the minefield.
- Although your opponents can usually see all the mines on the field, they can’t change the camera angle. This means that if you’re clever, you can hide some mines in places where the enemy can’t see them. If enemy troops try to move around in those locations, they’ll set off a hidden mine. Places you can hide mines include behind Statues, Sniper Towers, tall trees, and the Sawmill.
- Boom Beach mines don’t change their appearance when they’re upgraded, so your opponent has no idea how strong your mines are. You can use them to funnel enemy troops into a specific location on the map where your cannons and machine guns can decimate them.
Boom Beach Shock Launcher
The Boom Beach Shock Launcher is the final defensive building you unlock. Much like the weapons on your gunboat, the Boom Beach Shock Launcher will fire shock bombs. When an enemy is attacked with one, they are damaged and immobilized for a brief time.
Shock Launcher Offensive Strategy
- In a tank vs a shock launcher, the tank will always lose. Tanks are already very slow, and only become slower when attacked by a shock launcher. This may cause you to run out of time in an attack.
- Before landing your troops, take out the shock launchers with artillery or a barrage.
Shock Launcher Defensive Strategy
- Place your shock launcher near your HQ. They will be great for stunning out rushing warriors.
- Look to place it near other defensive buildings so it can slow down attacking troops.
Boom Beach Boom Cannon
Boom Beach Boom Cannons are a specialized and powerful type of defensive weapon unlocked later in the game. It is the sixth type of defensive weapon to be unlocked. They operate much like the regular Cannon, except that they have a higher DPS rate and take longer to reload. Boom Cannons, like normal Cannons, deal double their normal damage to tanks. They are colored orange and grey, and have no number on the side, unlike regular Cannons. Here’s a complete guide to using and upgrading Boom Beach Boom Cannons.
Boom Beach Boom Cannon Offensive Strategy
- When attempting to overcome a Boom Cannon, make sure you don’t spend too much time engaging it directly. Use Gunboat Artillery to destroy it from a distance or shock it so that your Warriors can get in close and swarm it.
- Since the Boom Beach Boom Cannon has such a long reload time, you don’t need to commit many troops to taking one out. Shock one after it fires to give your troops the most time possible to get up close and personal. You can flank the Boom Cannon and destroy it quickly.
- If there is a space between a Boom Cannon and the HQ it guards, you can position your Tanks on the other side of the HQ with flares to avoid its fire. If there is no space between the Boom Beach Boom Cannon and the HQ, this will not work.
Boom Beach Boom Cannon Defensive Strategy
- Once you’re able to build 4 Boom Cannons at HQ level 20, arrange them in a square/diamond formation. Boom Cannons have a very long range, and this will allow them to cover all areas of your base.
- You may also want to place your Boom Cannons around your to protect it directly. Be careful not to leave space between the HQ and the Cannons for the reasons stated above.
- Don’t place your Boom Cannons too close to the front lines. You need to take advantage of its long range for it to be really effective. Being able to destroy a Boom Cannon with a crowd of infantry right away will give your enemy an advantage.
Boom Beach Cannon
Boom Beach cannons are powerful, single-target defensive weapons. The Boom Beach cannon is the fourth unlockable defensive weapon in the game. It can demolish tanks easily, but can be swarmed by a large squad of infantry. They are colored green, orange, and grey, and have the number 80 painted on the side. Cannons are an extremely common part of any defensive strategy, so it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with their strengths and weaknesses. Here’s what you need to know about Boom Beach cannons.
Boom Beach Cannon Offensive Strategy
- Cannons are most effective against tanks, dealing double damage. If you’re running a tank army, make sure to place your tanks far away from any cannons, and use flares to guide them away from cannons if they get too close.
- Using Shock Bombs and Gunboat Artillery is a good way to deal with cannons. Shock Bombs will prevent cannons from firing for a short time, which will give you an opportunity to flank them with lots of infantry and destroy them. Gunboat Artillery will just straight-up destroy them.
Boom Beach Cannon Defensive Strategy
- Make sure not to cluster your cannons too closely together. This will make them vulnerable to flanking by infantry and attacks from the Gunboat.
- Protect your Cannons so they’ll get the chance to fire off a lot of ammo at approaching tanks and high-health infantry. Place them behind other buildings so that there’s a barrier that your enemy’s troops have to get through before they can expose your cannons.
- If you’re having trouble defending against tank armies, place your cannons near the front lines so they’re the first things your enemies will have to deal with. If Warriors are more of a problem, make sure that your cannons are closer to your Headquarters so you can defend against quick rushes.
