Backyard Monsters Unleashed Game Overview
Backyard Monsters Unleashed, the popular Facebook strategy game is now available for all iOS devices, including iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad, and you can get it for free on the iTunes Store. Backyard Monsters Unleashed for iOS includes all of the same key features from the Facebook version of the game. Players can train over 11 different monsters, build up and customize a backyard fortress, and play either campaign mode or battle online with their friends cooperatively or against each other to capture resources. While it is the same game from Facebook, it does not include cross-platform support, and all online gameplay in the iOS version stands apart from the Facebook version. Backyard Monsters Unleashed revolves around the goal of gaining resources. There are four types of resources that are used to build up your backyard: twigs, putty, goo, and pebbles, and they can all be attained in a number of ways. Players can get resources by winning strategic backyard battles against others, waiting time for their backyard's facilities to produce resources, or by buying them at the store with either gold coins (the in-game currency) or with real money. Once a player has resources, they can construct various types of buildings for their backyard that serve to defend their yard, hatch monsters, and gain more resources. In campaign mode, which consists of over 27 missions that increase in difficulty, the objective is to fend off continuous waves of wild monsters from destroying your yard. When playing online, players can choose to team up with their friends or play against them for resources. When players team up they form Tribes and can cooperatively defend their yards. To track all online accomplishments there are global leaderboards that list and compare each player's progress.

What types of monsters can I train in Backyard Monsters Unleashed? There are 11 different types of monsters in Backyard Monsters Unleashed, named Pokey, Chuck, Bolt, Gargantula, Scorchion, Boomer, Destronaut, Healix, Teratorn, Project X, and D.A.V.E. When players start the game, the only monster that is unlocked is Pokey, who resembles a small pink spike ball. Players can unlock and train additional monsters by buying them with resources or gold coins. What type of buildings can I build in my backyard in Backyard Monsters Unleashed? As much fun as training monsters is, an equally large part of the game is building and fortifying your backyard to defend against either wild monsters in campaign mode or other players online. There are three primary types of buildings: monster buildings, resource buildings, and defense buildings. Monster buildings serve to hatch, house, and train monsters for battle. Resource buildings can collect resources for you. Defense buildings are combat-oriented and serve to defend your backyard from attacks. How do I get more resources in Backyard Monsters Unleashed? There are several ways to get resources in Backyard Monsters Unleashed. One way that works very well is by fighting other players online and winning matches. Whenever you win a match, you will be rewarded with random amounts of twigs, pebbles, goo, and putty. Also, your buildings can make resources for you. There are 5 different types of resource buildings in the game, all with their own purpose. The Twig Snapper, Goo Factory, Putty Squisher, and Pebble Shiner are all dedicated resource buildings that gradually create resources over time. The fifth building, the Storage Silo, can increase the maximum amount of resources that a player can have at one time. Lastly, resources can also be bought directly from the in-game store with either gold coins or real money.
How do I invade another player's backyard? When you are viewing your own backyard, there is a small button labeled "Attack" in the lower right hand corner. This will bring you to a screen with two options, "Invasion Mode" and "Campaign Mode". Choose Invasion Mode and you will be taken to another player's backyard to invade. Deploy your monsters by tapping anywhere in their yard and direct them to the buildings you want to destroy by placing them close to the building. Tip: When you are invading another backyard, send your monsters to attack their defense buildings (Sniper Towers, Laser Towers, etc.) before focusing on other buildings. This way you will lose the least amount of monsters during an invasion. Tip: The invasion is technically "won" when you destroy the other player's Town Hall. Try to destroy all of the other buildings before this one to gain the maximum number of resources and achieve 100% destruction.
Backyard Monsters Unleashed Cheats
There are currently no official cheats available for Backyard Monsters Unleashed, but we have compiled a list of tips, tricks, and strategies for you to build the best base and get conquering! Defense Tips (Building Your Base) Tip #1: Put your Town Hall in the center.
- Your Town Hall is the most important building you have, because it determines who wins and who loses a match. Place it in the center of the rest of your buildings so it will be as protected as possible.
Tip #2: Arrange your base as a square.
- Where you put each building is incredibly important to surviving an invasion or being defeated and losing the least amount of resources. Arrange your base in the shape of a square with various tiers. With your Town Hall in the center, fill a surrounding tier with your silos. Following that, place your resource buildings and monster buildings. Lastly, put your defense buildings on the outside of the square. Place your defense towers (such as Sniper Towers) on the corners of the square and place traps at whatever places you might think the enemy would flow their forces into.
Tip #3: Use walls with time in mind.
- Place your walls so that they delay the enemy as much as possible. Walls are obstacles, and the longer an enemy has to spend on maneuvering around or dealing with that obstacle, the more time your attack towers have to spend on diminishing their forces.
Resource Tips: Tip #1: Using Campaign Mode
- Campaign Mode is a great way to get resources when you are first starting out. The missions will likely be easier than yards that you will face in invasion mode, and it is a great way to quickly get enough resources to build up a solid backyard and army.
Tip #2: Using Invasion Mode:
- Once you think you have a sufficient base and a solid army, start to take on other players in Invasion Mode. It costs 10 goo to play a match, but if you win, the rewards will be much greater than in Campaign Mode. See if you can conquer a few bases with 100% destruction, and keep track of how many monsters you lost to see if it was worth it. If it was, then keep on conquering.
Tip #3: Goo is the most important resource.
- While yes, all resources are important, goo can be said to be the most important because it is used to make monsters. With good amounts of goo, you can pump monsters out from the hatchery and quickly replenish your losses from invasions. Use goo to make monsters, invade other yards, and ultimately get a bunch of all the other resources.
Invasion Tips: Tip #1: Know your monsters.
- Know your monsters and their strengths and weaknesses before charging into battle. Every monster serves a different purpose, and your invasions will be much more effective if you use them accordingly. Pokeys, being a low level and cheap to produce, are good for attacking in large numbers and for distracting the enemy's defense towers while other monsters infiltrate their base. Destronauts, while more expensive, are ranged attackers and specialize in destroying the enemies defense towers. Using combinations of monsters such as Pokeys to distract defense towers and Destronauts to take them out is the key to success.
Tip #2: If you think you can achieve 100% destruction, do it!
- For those matches where you can rush in and take the enemy's Town Hall quickly and easily, don't. Instead, evaluate if it is worthwhile to go for 100% destruction and destroy every building to capitalize on getting the most resources. If the pros of resources outweigh the cons of losing monsters, then go for it!
Tip #3: Damage Protection is there to help you.
- Whenever you get invaded, the Damage Protection feature is activated and your backyard is protected from invasions for a limited time. However, if you try to invade another's yard while it is activated, you will forfeit the benefits and open yourself up to invasion again. If you see that you have Damage Protection, hold your horses for battle and use the time instead to safely build up your resources, monsters, and buildings.
