Cool Apps Man was recently lucky enough to review an early beta test of an exciting new icon game – Pop Song Test. Pop Song Test is a music trivia app by Scrapple Labs designed in the style of other popular iOS quizzes like Icomania, Icon Pop Quiz, and Logo Quiz. iPhone, iPod, and iPad users will soon be able to join in on the song guessing fun when Pop Song Test is released in the iTunes App Store later this month.
Here is the lo-down on what is soon to be the next big thing in icon quiz/puzzle game apps. Pop Song Test features playful, out of the box graphics unlike most other apps we have seen in this game genre. If you are familiar with our app reviews at Cool Apps Man, you know that icon puzzle and quiz games are our expertise (that’s an understatement, actually). But we’re not gonna give away too much about Pop Song Test and its unique gameplay just yet. You will have to sweat it out until its soon approaching official release…trust us, it’s worth the wait.
The gameplay of Pop Song Test is simple but distinctive from most icon games and music trivia apps. Guess the name of the popular song based off of some pretty clever and artistic musical icons. Once you guess the name of the song correctly, you will be awarded a certain number of coins until you rack up enough to unlock the next set of songs.
If you are having trouble guessing some of the songs in Pop Song Test, you can move around all the icons included in that particular level. However, you must correctly answer all the icons in one level before moving onto the next.
No game is set without having some well-designed hints for its users, and Pop Song Test is no exception. We can tell that the developers at Scrapple Labs have spent some time playing this type of game, as the hints are carefully constructed to reveal just enough context without totally giving away the answer.
With three crafty hints options available for players, several levels and even more lined up for the next game updated, we here at Cool Apps Man think it’s safe to say that Pop Song Test will soon be making its mark in the iOS app store
