Elsevier launches ClinicalKey, Health Information App

Elsevier, a company that has cemented its position as global leader when it comes to providing of scientific, medical and technical information as well as services, has launched a new mobile app going by the name ClinicalKey. The app enables its users to access facts-based, professionally reviewed clinical information on mobile devices running on the Android or iOS operating systems. According to its developers, the app seeks to be in line with the needs of medical practitioners who are increasingly using mobile devices throughout their workday. ClinicKey offers readily available medical answers and boasts one of the largest collections of clinical resources. The areas covered range from surgery to nursing and a host of other medical specialties. This way, clinicians can improve their service delivery, conduct accurate diagnosis and most importantly reduce the cost of care. Speaking at the launch of the app, Dr. Peter Edelstein, the Chief Medical Officer at Elsevier said, “unlike other clinical apps available today, the ClinicalKey mobile app provides clinicians with access to a greater breadth of content and a broader range of specialties, whenever and wherever they need clinical information." The most attractive features of ClinicalKey include:

• A responsive search that filters the user’s keywords, makes auto suggestions, and stores the search history
• Access to comprehensive easy to understand guidelines, video, full-text journals and full-text books
• Ability to save documents, make bookmarks and synchronize the archives with web application
• Accumulate and track Continuing Medical Education credits
• Persistent login that allows users to sign in quickly

ClinicalKey will be available in more than 40 countries. The developers of the app are planning to release local versions of the app later on this year. Edelstein said that by allowing clinicians to have access to quick, evidence-based clinical answers when treating patients, it can only mean that the outcome will be better and efficient service delivery.
