Zynga’s new word game, What’s The Phrase?, is the mobile version of Wheel of Fortune. As with any Zynga game, though, there are tricks to playing it.
What’s The Phrase? pits two players against one another and prompts one of them to select a category for the phrase they’re about to guess (TV shows, for example). Each player will then spin the wheel and receive whatever number of coins the wheel stops at (the wheel caps out at 1,000). The players then guess at the phrase by picking different letters; vowels, however, must be purchases separately using the coins they received from the spin.
To aide the player, What’s The Phrase? gives them different powerups as well: Spin Again, which allows players to spin the wheel again; Educate, which straight up gives the player a free correct letter; Eliminate, which takes away three incorrect letters; and Bomb, which allows players to place “bombs” on the keyboard of their opponent – should the opponent use those select letters, the bombs explode and deduct points.
What’s The Phrase? is definitely fun to play, and certainly a refreshing take on all the word games companies seem to be throwing at people these days
